Diabetes Prevention Week to raise awareness of Type 2 diabetes

People across Lincolnshire are being urged to learn more about the risks of diabetes during a prevention week later this month.

Diabetes Prevention Week runs from April 16 to 22 and aims to make members of the public more aware of the risks of Type 2 diabetes.

In Lincolnshire, 50,000 people are living with diabetes, which is roughly eight per cent of the population.

Over recent weeks there have been a number of incidents where deposits of a substance we now know to be Petroleum Wax have washed up on beaches on the East Lincolnshire Coast.

An urgent appeal has been issued for batteries and electrical items not to be put into your black or grey bins after it was revealed that batteries in recycled waste were thought to be responsible for a second fire in recent weeks at a waste transfer station in Slippery Gowt Lane, Boston.

Refuse Collection - Update

East Lindsey District Councils refuse crews are out on their normal rounds this week. Plus they also have crews tackling the back log of waste from last week.

The additional crews will be in Skegness on Wednesday and Thursday to collect the outstanding waste.
